Waterford Film For All
Waterford Film For All has been around for longer than you think. Under our previous guise of Waterford Film Society we can trace our roots back to the late 1950's.
The earliest screenings would have used a 16mm projector, we also had a brief flirtation with video and our current screenings use the 35mm theatrical format courtesy of Storm cinema in Poleberry.
Film Societies from the 1950s to the 90s used portable 16mm projectors and collapsable screens which meant you could set up a screening in any location with sufficient headroom. Our venues have been many and varied: The Municipal Theatre, Mount Sion G.A.A. Clubhouse, The Granville Hotel, The Large Room City Hall, Waterford Bridge Centre, The Forum Theatre, Garter Lane Arts Centre, the Auditorium, Waterford Institute of Technology and our new home at Storm.
Our aim is to screen a wide variety of films from around the world for local audiences. We are affiliated to Access CINEMA who coordinate our bookings and provide us with programming advice and marketing support. The workload is shared by a voluntary committee, currently four strong. We also enjoy the support of venue staff and a small group of friends and relations who help with publicity.
If you would like to promote WFFA in your workplace we can supply posters and flyers. All you have to do is distribute the pubicity material and we'll reward you with a double pass to a film of your choice.
